Thornton Weekly update week ending 2nd June
A bit of a patchy week with Monday to Wednesday weather not great, our water temperature continues to hover at around 11 degrees, it should be 15 degrees, but what a contrast by the weekend an improving forecast, at last it seems summer is arriving, and not before time, it is only three weeks to the longest day and four weeks after that the nights will noticeably start to draw in, summer and decent trout fishing temperatures are long overdue
141 rods caught 312 trout for rod average 2.2
Green bay, Stones & Farm Bank has produced best this week with trout feeding on snails & buzzer. On the evenings when the air temperature doesn’t drop we are getting a good evening rise.
Thornton Fly Fishers fished their boat pairs match on Sunday with Mark Sturgess and John Salisbury being the eventual winners with the Vernon brothers Chris & Martin a close second
Mick Glover enjoyed a great afternoons sport catching 10 trout including fish of 6lb7oz and 4lb9oz on hares ear and buzzer, John Salisbury recorded fish of 4lb10oz, 4lb8oz with Mark Sturgess weighing a rainbow 4lb8oz, James Foster recorded rainbow 4lb10oz with Chris Sayer also recording a 4lb rainbow, Tony Lorrimer in his catch included fish of 6lb, 5lb and 4lb8oz with Trevor Pegg catching 14 trout including a 5lb8oz
