Thornton weekly report week ending 8th August 2016
70 acres
Tel: 01530 230807
Our surface temperature was all over the place this week, Monday to Thursday 18.5C by the weekend it was 20.5C and by today (Tuesday 9th) its dropping again down to 19C, this up and down water temperatures does little to promote consistent sport
Some days when the water temperature was 18.5C we had a fish catch average of 2+ but on the days our temperature went above 20C we averaged between 0.8 – 0.9, overall our weekly average was 1.0
Mick Glover fished a Big Red dry to take his 3 fish for his mornings visit, Bob Jones caught 4 with some of his fish feeding hard on pin fry, Mark Hunt fished opposite the lodge working the weed beds with cdc patterns waiting for cloud cover and moving fish, by using this tactic he boated 6 trout.
It’s not surprising that currently the cooler morning session is the best part of the day the day to fish, the 8.00am – 3.00pm session
At times like this at the height of the summer when fishing conditions can & do alter quickly we recommend you contact the lodge for latest info.
