Thornton weekly report week ending 18th September 2016
Tel: 01530 230807
70 acre
On the two overcast days Monday & Friday sport picked up nicely with fish moving freely and taking dries, emergers & muddlers. On the other brighter days algae remained a problem.
With this week’s forecast giving cloud and cooler air temperatures we should at last see the algae drop way.
Some daddies about, with a small G&H sedge also worth a go. For cdc & hoppers fish red or claret.
Monday our rod average was pushing 3 with hoppers, daddies and muddlers taking fish across the main basin and into green bay. Trevor Pegg midweek searched for the clearer water and caught 7 trout to 4lb2oz on a pearly pheasant tail. Saturday was the best day of the weekend by far with Mark Hunt leading the pack with 15 trout taken on dries, cormorants and muddler.
Mark with a number of anglers this week commented a number of fish were feeding on this year’s large shoals of fry, could be why Trevor pearly pheasant tail worked
With our water temperature at 16 degrees, cooler forecast for the week we should see some good sport, we have had a good number of fish move the last hour on Saturday & Sunday evening.
Overall average for the week was 1.6
