Thornton weekly report week ending 25th September 2016
Tel: 01530 230807
70 acre
Better weeks fishing despite the algae, we had enough of a breeze, wind at times to push the algae out of the way leaving us with reasonable clear water.
Daddies was the most successful fly of the week, followed by olive buzzer, emergers, muddlers & fry patterns with the floating line working best. With the wind coming from the South & west for most of the week the best area was in front of the dam, green bay & stones.
Adrian Freer caught 6 for 19lb for his morning’s visit, with Matt Cairns using his version of the Big Res to record 5 for his mornings fishing. Pete Cox used an olive buzzer to take 5 but lost a fish at the net estimated at 6lb-7lb. Clive Holt fished an afternoon to late evening session recording 6 trout, Steve Orton also fished a late evening session using a muddler. Floating fry, yellow owl to boat his 5 fish, during the same evening Neil Bates found some fry feeders in open water prepared to take his sparkle booby catching 4 trout including a brown of 3lb. Mick Cross & A Miles both caught rainbows of 4lb during the week.
Overall average for the week was 2.0
