Fishery Report: Week Ending: 4th October
We have seen a change this past week with the late morning, afternoon and when the weather allowed the late evening fish best.
Good numbers of the larger buzzer at times, although were still seeing large hatches of small green or black midge
Monday with some fish moving from late morning the best of the sports and rise was into the evening with fish moving across the main basin out towards the stones with Clive Holt and Colin Chambers boating 6 during the rise with Neil Bates fishing a muddler to take his 3 fish
Tuesday again the late afternoon into the evening produced a good rise with the stones and green bay seeing the best concentration of feeding fish. P Birdsall out with his son caught 5 on daddies with Mark Hunt fishing the last 4 hours with small bobs bits and daddies to boat his 4 fish
Wednesday it rained! Mick Glover fished from 8.30am – 11.15am using a home tied claret bobs bits catching 4 trout with Mick reporting fish moving in pods off the stones
Thursday better weather with all the boats out. Chris Sayer and Mick Cross caught 17 for their mornings visit, Pete Hunt caught 5 but again the afternoon into the late evening provided a good evening rise. Howard Davies caught 10 on a claret snatcher he ties, Peter Birdsall & Mick Norman shared a last 4 hour boat catching 5 trout during the rise, Mark Hunt returned to fish another last 4 hour session catching 5 on a variety of dries with Peter Wurm fishing a small hares ear emerger to catch his 3 fish
Friday with heavy rain and winds all day we didn’t have any boats out. Saturday morning with the water temperature at 13.5c we had buzzers hatching which was ideal for the feeding sand martins which were on their way south. Mat Vickers and Simon went into the Markfield arm and concentrated their fishing from the lonesome pine to the corner of the wood fishing boobies they caught 12 for their mornings visit. Anglers found fish feeding on the hatching buzzer along the stones into green bay Mark Hunt fished the full day catching 2 fish by 4pm but then as the main rise started catching 11 trout on cdc from 4pm – 7pm.
Good to see Richard Bromwich a new angler to our sport going out to fish the evening rise being rewarded with 2 fish on a daddy
Water clarity is good, water temperature between 13.5c – 14c good hatches of buzzers with daddies on the water current rod average 2.5
