Despite the weather Thornton is enjoying a good start to the season with the rod average this week 4.7
Monday G Tomkinson caught 12 from the bank on a white tadpole, Thornton member Dave Leavesley caught 18 in 3 hours off the bank on an appetizer with Draycote member Rodger Kerrison catching 20 from a boat fishing the top of the Thornton arm. Tuesday with a bitterly cold morning few fish were caught in the morning, with a slight air temperature rise at 1pm it all started to happen, Nev Welsh caught 13 between 1pm and 3pm, M Harrison caught 16 between 1pm and 4pm with Alan Topping on the bank catching 8 fish after 1.30pm.
Wednesday Dave Leavesley bank fished and caught 20, Pete Evile caught 20+ trout on buzzers with Thornton member D Slessor catching 9 from a boat. Friday and yet another cold frosty morning, staff member and guide Lee Henfrey caught 20+ on a midge tip single fly cats whisker pattern, Thornton member Richard Price caught 10 on a small cats whisker pattern with John Bebbington bank fishing for 3 hours 1pm – 4pm catching 7 from the bank
Saturday and the cold weather theme continued, Martin Clay caught 16 opposite the lodge, Mark Hunt caught 14 from the Thornton again late morning early afternoon fished best

Best Area: Top of the Thornton arm & down along the shallows opposite the lodge along the wood past lonesome pine to the tern raft, trout are well spread, but very close to the bank
Best Method: Floating Line, Hover, Midge Tip, Intermediate and sinking lines with white & green lures, small green pea, snakes and booby

Main Gate, Lodge & Bank fishing open 7.30am
Full Day Boat: 8.30am – 5.30pm
Morning Boat: 8.30am – 1.00pm
Afternoon Boat: 1.00pm – 5.30pm
All anglers offsite by 5.45pm
