Fishery Report: Week Ending: 27 September
Weather forecast was good for the start of the week but looking windier and cooler towards Thursday, Friday and the weekend
Not much wind for Monday with fish moving off and on during the day with anglers catching in the top couple feet of water on dries, nymphs, snakes, fabs and blobs. Steve Jordan and Pam Shuttlewood shared a boats for the morning catching 7 trout on diawls and small snakes. Anglers reported losing fish with a number of fish coming short to the fly.
Tuesday another good weather day, Steve Alexander too to his float tube catching 6 trout, Dave Coote and his brother fished in green bay with diawls and buzzers to boat their 7 trout. Good to see disabled international H Pritchard back out on the water fishing a slow sink line and damsel pattern to catch his 6 trout.
Wednesday, change in the weather, colder, breezy wet day, Greg Weatherdon persevered with a daddy to boat his two fish with Pete Hunt taking 4 trout for his mornings visit.
Thursday and Friday the forecast wind arrived, Phil Moore caught 5 for his visit across the main basin with Chris Sayer and Mick Cross catching 8 for their mornings visit fishing the deeper water in front of the wood with boobies.
Saturday and the first frost of the autumn, another windy day with few rods going on the water. Sunday and another windy although the forecast was for the wind to drop later on in the day. Not an easy day, as the wind dropped the temperature dived, surprisingly good hatch of midge bought the fish to the surface providing a good evening rise, fish weren’t easy to tempt although Peter Wurm found a size 16 sparsely tied hares ear emerger worked for him.
Difficult end to the week with an overall rod average 1.3
