Thornton fishing report week ending 20/05/2012

Posted by & filed under Reports.

The warmer weather forecast for this week will be most welcomed, Thornton water level is full what we need is some warmer temperatures to bring the fish onto the surface and some good late evening rises.

Last week 118 rods caught 279 trout for a rod average 2.4 with the last day of the week Sunday providing the best sport as the air temperature started to show signs of improvement.

On spooning fish caught this week it’s clear that daphnia is their number one food item, they are stuffed to the gills on it with a few small buzzers as well.

Bank anglers have found some fish this week opposite the lodge by the willows and down by the lonesome pine. Boat anglers have fished the sheltered water in front of the wood and green bay with damsel, orange blob, buzzers, cruncher and diawl bach on a floating or slow sinking line best.
