Thornton Weekly report ending 13/08/12
The hottest spell of weather for a few weeks & I expected the fishing at Thornton to become hard, how wrong I was, a few days mid week it wasn’t that easy but over the weekend the fishing was as good as it gets for August
During the week 113 rods caught 249 trout for a rod average 2.2 with most of the trout falling to floating or intermediate lines with a damsel, diawl bach, buzzer, cruncher & an orange foamed body daddy all working.
Again the trout are not were you would expect them for the time of year, they are not in the deeper water but were to be found from the mouth of the Markfield arm past the lonesome pine down to the farm gate.
Notable catches were made by Keith Coley, John Bebbington, Phil Bruce & Thornton regular Norma Prime who all recorded catches in double figures.
David Pallot recorded the best fish of the week a rainbow of 5lb
Water clarity is good with the water temperature cool for the time of year.
