Thornton Weekly update week ending 24th June
By the end of last week our water clarity was once again good but the fishing remained a challenge for most of the week with 112 rods averaging 1.2
Anglers reported seeing at times good numbers of fish moving but they were preoccupied feeding on the newly hatch coarse fish fry, pin fry.
If you pulled a muddler or similar pattern through the surface you would get plenty of follows the challenge was turning those follows into takes.
Damsels have at long last started to show a bit of warmer weather and we should see a lot more of them.
Nev Welsh the week previous recorded a rainbow of 7lb3oz, this week Mark Brown 4lb4oz rainbow, Roger Jones 4lb12oz, M Norman 4lb, Mark Sturgees rainbows of 3lb5oz and 3lb4oz with Tony Lorrimer recording 14 trout to 3lb
The forecast for this last week of June looks good for fishing with improving temperatures and favourable wind speeds.
Our last four hours fishing 1 fish kill + Catch & Release £10 and a rowing boat £4.00 offers great value.
