Thornton Weekly update week ending 25th August
Conditions continue to improve with a favourable weather forecast for the fishing as we leave summer and move into the autumn
Every evening this past week we have seen hatches of the large claret buzzer, some evening the hatches have been great the best we have seen for a number of years with sedges and daddies on the water, roll on September it will only get better and better.
Dapping isn’t something you see often practised on midland reservoir, Mark Clark decided to try a bit of dapping one evening catching 2 trout and missing over a dozen others.
Clive Holt fished the evening rise catching 6 trout, Mr Liggins fished with his son during a late evening session catching 10 on daddies, sedges and damsel, T Pegg fished a morning session with buzzer and hares ear to catch 7 trout with W Allardyce using a dry sedge pattern to take a 5lb rainbow.
The majority of the trout are in the upper levels of the water with muddlers, dries and damsels fished on a floating line.
Water temperature is 16 degrees with our water clarity good
Our last four hours fishing 1 fish kill + Catch & Release £10 and a rowing boat £4.00 offers great value.
