Thornton weekly report week ending 21st August 2016
70 acres
Tel: 01530 230807
Water temperature crept up during the week at one point it pushed 20 degrees, however the windy, cooler unsettled weather over the weekend kept rods off the water it did help reduce the water temperature, by Sunday morning we were at 17 degrees & the fish responded to the cooler conditions.
On Sunday Phil Mee fished a sinker in the morning before changing to an intermediate line catching 11 fish, Mark Hunt fished a claret cdc to take 10 trout with the majority caught in front of the lodge & down towards the main car park, rod average for Sunday alone was 3.6
Overall average for the week was 1.3
Currently our water temperature remains at 17 degrees although we do have some algae on the water.
The weekends southerly gales pushed an unusual visitor to the reservoir, a Gannet, we believe its the first recorded Gannet in Leicestershire. The Osprey also paid us a visit on Sunday
At times like this at the height of the summer when fishing conditions can & do alter quickly we recommend you contact the lodge for latest info.
