Thornton weekly report week ending 5th September 2016
Tel: 01530 230807
70 acre
We had a mixed weeks fishing with the algae persisting although the breeze most days led areas of clear water.
During most of the week mornings fished best with anglers catching on intermediate lines with orange blobs down to fast sinking lines with boobies and snakes.
Saturday morning was wet, plenty of heavy rain showers, however the inclement weather helped to reduce the surface temperature and with a few claret buzzer hatching, see photo on facebook www.facebook.com/FlyFishStore , it looked good for the late afternoon once the rain had passed. Mark Hunt was the only angler left on the water drifting from the corner of the car park past the pontoon and was rewarded with fish moving on the surface where he caught 10 on claret cdc
Russ Martin fished Sunday afternoon along the Thornton arm taking 3 on dries, again fish feeding on the claret buzzer.
Over the weekend when the fish moved they could be drawn to chase muddlers, hoppers and cdc
Best areas, main car park, Thornton arm, Green Bay
Overall average for the week was 1
Currently our water temperature remains at 17 degrees
At times like this at the height of the summer when fishing conditions can & do alter quickly we recommend you contact the lodge for latest info.
