2016 Alaska Camp Dates Fishing July 16th ~ 23rd 2016
Ifor Jones has organised numerous fly fishing trips to Alaska, fishing the Kanektok River with Dave Duncan and Sons Outfitters. I return to the Duncan’s Upper Base Camp a truly wilderness camp were you will see very few, if any other people fishing as we will be in the Togiak Refuge were rod numbers & fishing pressure is closely monitored.
Ifor will be able to advise you on the best flights to get you into Anchorage & onwards to the Duncan’s camp he will also provide you with a list of tackle & clothing required.
This particular Alaskan river holds all 5 species of pacific salmon as well as Dolly Varden, Arctic Grayling and superb Rainbows, locally referred to as leopard rainbows, Mousing for Alaskan rainbows is addictive!!
I’m often asked “how many fish did you catch”. In all honesty, I never keep count. I can however say “you will see more fish than you ever thought a 90 mile long river could hold,”. For 2014 the Alaska fish & game page reports 256,000 sockeye salmon ran the river not to mention the Chum Salmon, Dolly Varden, Pinks & Coho
For your week you are allocated one guide to every two guests – the attention to detail by the Duncans and their guide team is second to none.
Expect a trip with the Duncans, including all airfares, hotels etc to be in the region of £4,500 – £5,000 depending on exchange rates & for this trip you will be out of the UK for 13 days.
For 2016 we will be visiting the river during the third week in July stopping at the Duncans’ Upper Camp. It will, be prime time on the Kanektok, with the sun never fully setting.
Details on future trips will be posted here but in the meantime you can get further information on what the Kanektok and the Duncans have to offer by visiting their web site www.alaskaflyfishingcamps.com
